Orientation Programme for B.F.Sc 2017-18 batch at Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi

The orientation programme for the 2017-18 batch students of B.F.Sc programme was conducted at Fisheries College and Research Institute (FC&RI), Thoothukudi, a constituent unit of Tamil Nadu Fisheries University, Nagapattinam on 18.09.2017. This year a total of 61 students (34 boys and 27 girls) have been admitted for B.F.Sc. programme at Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi through counselling process conducted early this month. The freshers were given rousing welcome by the second year B.F.Sc students at the college entrance gate with bouquet and sweets. They also guided the parents and their wards to the place of registration and hostels. The programme was initiated by Dr. G. Sugumar, Dean, who extended a warm welcome to parents and students. In his welcome address, he explained the genesis of the college and he explained the status of the alumi of this prestigious institute. Further he added that the campus is free from ragging and if any form of ragging is felt by the students they can communicate with the anti ragging authorities. The speech was followed by session on academic rules and scholarships by Dr.S.Athithan, Student’s Co-ordinator. Dr.B.Sundaramoorthy, Warden explained hostel rules and regulations, the Vice President of student association Dr. S.Athithan, Professor and Head detailed the college activities and achievements. Sports, NSS and Library activities were also explained by the faculty staff. Several parents actively interacted and clarified their doubts such as job opportunities, course details, fellowship and other facilities.
